French Club

I am so excited to start this new school year at our awesome new school (for me: in Room N305 French).

Sign up for this after-school Enrichment Program which will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays.

This French II Prep class is based on the learning of French (the language and the culture around it), following the High School Curriculum with the C'EST A TOI - Level one Workbook, which can be easily ordered through Amazon or other carriers for approximatively $10 - $12. Please, when ordering this activity book, make sure it is a brand new copy; as it is, after all, a tool to write French and practice the exercises.

Also, students need a 1" binder (a regular one-inch binder) that could be decorated with pictures of Paris (la Tour Eiffel for example) or with French icons (Cafe creme, croissants, baguette bread…). It will be essential to have some lined paper inside the binder (we do write a lot in this class), and 5 tab-dividers (in cardstock please), along with some color markers, or gel pens (the girls love them), and a glue stick.

This bi-weekly class is an Enrichment class with a $200 tuition.

We will be covering the history of France, the Greco-roman empire as well as some etymology (root words from Latin and Greek that they will also know how to read). This class will approach the diverse concepts that forged France and Europe after the Antiquity, mentioning the role of the Roman empire, the importance of the Greek thinkers (Aristotle, Pythagoras,...),  talking about the Middle Ages (castles, knighthood, monarchies, kings, crusades, invasions), and evoking the beautiful era of the Renaissance until the Enlightenment (the crucial turn around with the French revolution and the help to the United States in theirs).  We will learn about France within the European Community and the use of Euros. As far as the culture, food, and leisure…everyone will know what a "pain au chocolat" means!

This French II Prep Class is an audacious, dense curriculum, "a college class" as I call it, preparing each student for learning French level 1 to be ready for level 2…I can not stretch enough that attendance is a must throughout the year!

Thank you so much for supporting this program.

Merci beaucoup !
