Safety Protocol

We would like to encourage the entire Science Academy community to have a conversation with their child and consider the following as preparation in case of an emergency that affects the school:

Please make sure your child:

Has both parent cell phone numbers memorized, as well as a third contact number, in the event neither parent can be reached;
Has their home address memorized. In the past, police officers were unable to take students home during an emergency as the student did not know their address;
Has a general idea of parents’ work/home schedule(s) so they have an idea of where parent(s) may be contacted;
Knows who the emergency contacts are on the Emergency card on file at school;

Parents, please make sure you:

Have completed an Emergency card with up-to-date information on file at the school;
Have a “Parent/Family Emergency Pool” in place – this is a pool of 2 or 3 people can contact, and who can contact you, for information in the event of an extended emergency and/or blackout;
Have an alternative place for your child to go to from school during an emergency in case you are detained or have been incapacitated;
Have established emergency procedures for the home and reviewed them with your child in the event they arrive home before you
Have some form of portable emergency power for your phone at home in the event of a power outage.
